CrossSafe · Pedestrian Safety App
Last updated: May 2026
Thank you for using CrossSafe. This privacy policy explains what data CrossSafe collects (spoiler: none), how it works, and what permissions it uses and why.
CrossSafe is a free pedestrian safety app. We built it with a simple principle: your data is yours. CrossSafe collects no personal data, has no internet access, and cannot transmit anything from your device. This applies to every user in every country — this app is built for the world.
CrossSafe is a free pedestrian safety app built for Android. It was created to help people stay visible to drivers when crossing dark roads at night. The app is developed independently and is not affiliated with any company.
None.
CrossSafe does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data whatsoever. There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, no analytics, no crash reports, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
Everything you configure in the app — your presets, your settings, your preferences — stays on your device only and is never sent anywhere.
CrossSafe requests the following Android permissions. Here is exactly why each one is needed:
Keeps your screen on while the flash is active so it does not dim or turn off in the middle of a road crossing. This is essential for safety.
Used for haptic feedback when you tap the GO button and when the flash stops. This is a small vibration to confirm your action.
Keeps the flash running if you press the Home button during a crossing. This ensures the app continues working while your phone is face-down on the road.
Used to show a notification while the flash is running in the background. The notification has a STOP button so you can end the flash at any time. Required on Android 13 and above.
Restores your home screen widget after the phone restarts so the widget stays on your home screen and works correctly.
None of these permissions are used to collect, access, or transmit any personal information.
CrossSafe does not use the internet. There is no network permission in the app. It works fully offline in areas with no signal, on aeroplanes, in remote locations, and anywhere else. No data can leave your device because the app never connects to the internet.
CrossSafe does not use any third-party services, SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks, crash reporters, or social media integrations. There are no hidden libraries that collect data on our behalf.
The only external service involved is the Google Play Store, which handles app distribution. Google's own privacy policy governs how they handle data related to app downloads. We have no access to that data.
CrossSafe is safe for users of all ages including children. Because we collect no data at all, there is nothing to protect or disclose regarding minors. The app contains no ads, no in-app purchases, and no links to external websites or content.
CrossSafe flashes bright lights rapidly. People with epilepsy, photosensitive conditions, or a history of seizures triggered by flashing lights should not use this app without consulting a medical professional first. A warning is shown inside the app on first launch.
If you feel unwell while using the app, stop immediately. You can stop the flash by tapping anywhere on the screen, pressing the volume button, or shaking the phone twice.
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and post a note in the app's release notes on the Play Store. Since we collect no data, any future changes are unlikely to affect your privacy in any meaningful way.
